Come explore Bluff Creek by bicycle! At 50 square miles, the Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District is home to many diverse water resources, including three creeks, fifteen lakes, and many acres of wetlands. Our community boasts extensive walking and biking trails, perfect for enjoying these water bodies, and this fall the watershed district is partnering with the City of Chanhassen to host an 8-mile bicycle ride along Bluff Creek. At stops on the way we’ll discover new things about Bluff Creek, the work the city and watershed district are undertaking to keep it clean, and what you can do to help. This is a family friendly event, and minors need to be accompanied by an adult. Helmets are a must. Space is limited for safety, so register early.
Date: Saturday, October 10, 2015
Time: 9 - 11:30 am
Distance: about 8 miles
Meet at: Lake Ann Park, 1456 West 78th Street
Parking: Cars can be parked at Lake Ann Park during the tour.
We will meet at Lake Ann Park, off of West 78th Street in Chanhassen. There is a large lot in the front for parking. Registration starts at 9 am. There will be a brief intro, and then we will leave from the lot at 9:15 am. The route is an out and back and we will end back at Lake Ann Park by 11:30 am. There will be snacks. Bring a water bottle.
The route is mostly on multi-use trails, with two very minor traffic crossings. There are hills, however, and some of the pavement is cracked and pitted, so use caution and be prepared to sweat a little. If you are champion road racer on the other hand, be prepared to take it easy: we'll be sticking together as a pack.
Helmets are required to participate. Bright colors are recommended.
