•Keep your dog on leash. We love our pets, but they can do damage in the environment. While running and playing they can trample native plants and spread seeds from invasive species. Their waste can pollute water bodies like Purgatory Creek with bacteria, and nutrients that feed green algae.
•Adopt your storm drain. Leaves, grass clippings, and other debris that go down nearby storm drains end up in the school forest pond and Purgatory Creek. Once there, they can smother fish and insect habitat and provide food for algae, turning the water green.
