Seeing watersheds

When rain falls on the earth, it can either soak into the ground, run off into water bodies, or evapo-transpirate back into the air. Minnesota used to be dominated by tall grass prairies and forests. Today, much of the landscape is hard surfaces like roads, parking lots, and buildings. How has this change impacted the natural water cycle, and Minnesota's lakes, creeks, and wetlands? Explore these questions, and how we can each make a difference with the Seeing Watersheds kit.

Kit includes:

  • Paint trays (x10)
  • Spray bottles (x10)
  • Felt landscapes (10 sets)
  • Food coloring
  • Example lesson plan
