Zebra mussels, an aquatic invasive species (AIS), were recently discovered in Lake Riley. These mussels live in dense clusters and can spread quickly. They attach to docks, boats, rocks, logs, and other surfaces in the lake, and can create threats to recreation and to the stability of a lake ecosystem. While many local lakes have zebra mussels, this is the first lake within the Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District where they have been spotted.

Join staff from the Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and other local agencies to learn more. We’ll answer your questions and discuss: the zebra mussel infestation on Lake Riley, our next steps and management decisions for Lake Riley, implications for other local lakes, what you can do to help.

Light refreshments will be provided.
