Prepare for Winter

Prepare your home for winter by:

  • Shutting off exterior water valves
  • Draining outdoor faucets to prevent frozen and cracked pipes
  • Clearing gutters and downspouts to prevent the formation of ice dams and associated roof damage.
  • Inspecting and servicing your shovels and snowblowers.

And, don’t forget about your plants! Plants should be pruned back before the winter in order to encourage healthy growth in the spring. The watershed’s website has great tips for maintaining a healthy lawn and garden.
