Lotus Lake Water Quality Improvement Project

Summary

The feasibility study was completed in 2024. Preliminary design is underway for the projects identified in the report.

About the Project

The study began in summer 2022. The goal of the effort was to develop and evaluate potential projects to reduce phosphorus loading and improve the water quality of Lotus Lake. Results of the study are presented in the 2024 feasibility report and include recommendations for five best management practices (BMPs).

The BMPs were orginally identified in the 2017 Purgatory Creek Watershed Use Attainability Analysis (UAA) and incorporated into the District's capital improvements program. The figure below shows the five potential project areas identified in the 2024 feasibility report. Next steps are to develop preliminary designs for the projects and determine potential timelines for implementation.
